Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Gidi Connect ("we", "us") collects when you use our mobile app and websites, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Gidi Connect consumer app, the business portal at business.gidiconnect.com, and this website.

What we collect

• Account information. Email address and password when you create an account. Your password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
• Profile information you choose to add. Display name, username, bio, and profile photo.
• Content you create. Posts, comments, polls and votes, stories (which expire after 24 hours), photos and videos you upload, venue reviews, check-ins, event RSVPs, follows, and community memberships.
• Business information (business accounts only). Business name, contact email and phone, address, website, and social handles.
• Device and usage data. A push notification token if you enable notifications, and anonymous interaction counters (for example, that a venue's page was viewed) used to show businesses aggregate statistics. We do not track your precise location.

What we don't collect

• We do not collect your GPS location.
• We do not access your contacts.
• We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
• We do not show third-party advertising or share data with ad networks.

How we use your data

• To operate the service: your profile and content are shown to other users as part of the social experience.
• To send notifications you have enabled (likes, comments, mentions, follows).
• To show businesses aggregate, non-identifying statistics about their venue pages.
• To keep the platform safe: reviewing content that is reported to us and enforcing our Terms of Service.

Guest browsing

You can browse venues, events, and news without an account. In guest mode we do not collect account or profile data.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on servers located in the United States. Push notifications are delivered through Expo and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

• Stories are automatically deleted after they expire.
• Everything else is kept while your account is active.
• When you delete your account, your data is deleted as described on the account deletion page.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you can:

• Access and update your profile information at any time in the app.
• Delete your account and data — in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete Account, or via the web request page.
• Withdraw notification permission in your device settings at any time.
• Complain to your data protection authority if you believe we have mishandled your data.

Children

Gidi Connect is a nightlife discovery platform intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app before the changes take effect.
